The gaming industry has been having a very tumultuous year. Fluctuating prices, uncertain shipping, and sourcing difficulties have led to unpredictable changes in the field and in the market. However, with all of the changes going on, one thing remains certain:
Gen Con is going to be the biggest event of the year!
Taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana, Gen Con Indy is the premiere board, card, and tabletop gaming convention in America. From juggernauts like Wizards of the Coast to one-man indie studios, over 800 exhibitors will be attending, with booths and rooms to show off their newest and upcoming products and experiences. Despite all the instability in our industry, that’s up from 540 exhibitors in 2024.
Whether you are looking to shop, playtest, take part in tournaments, or just meet people who are into the same hobbies you are, with over 71,000 attendees, Gen Con Indy is the place to be.
Game Brands and Goodman Games
This year, Brad from Game Brands will be attending Gen Con with Goodman Games, both at their booth and as a Game Master for their D&D 5e material. We’re proud to be working with them to support their games!
When he’s not running games for Goodman, Brad can be found either on the Gen Con floor or at Goodman Games’ Booths, located at 109 and 2519.
History of Gen Con
Those of you who are familiar with Gary Con and its history with both the Gygax family and the town of Lake Geneva may be surprised to learn some of Gen Con’s history—Gary Gygax created the first Gen Con in Lake Geneva in 1968! Originally the Lake Geneva Wargames Convention, ownership of Gen Con has passed through each company that owned Dungeons & Dragons (TSR, Wizards of the Coast, and Hasbro) until 2002, when former WoTC CEO Peter Adkison acquired the convention and made it its own separate entity. In 2003, the convention moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where it has remained for over 20 years.
